Falkirk Cup 2010

WELCOME TO THE FALKIRK CUP 2010!

This is our third annual event and is the biggest to date. We hope that visitors returning to the event will find that it is also better than previous years. For all new visitors, we would hope that we offer an experience that is more than just the average football tournament.

Whatever your role here, be it player, coach or spectator, and whether you are here for the first time, or for the third time, our one aim is to make this the best football tournament that you have attended. We hope that we can give you that experience, and with your help, we are sure that we will come close!

We are pleased to say that we have grown and improved since the days of the first Falkirk Cup where we had 48 teams playing continuous football over a two day period to this years event where we have limited attendance to 120 teams who will play continuous
football over a four day period. In all, we expect to see over 2700 visitors to Little Kerse through our weekend of football! Unfortunately this year, the Falkirk Cup has proved so popular that we have had to turn away applications to take part, so in our continuous improvement programme, the challenge is to grow the tournament even more to accommodate all applicants next year.

Our visitors this year come from further a field than previous years with many of our participants taking up lodgings in and around Falkirk for their time at the event. We would especially welcome our teams from Institute FC who visit us from Northern Ireland. Throughout our discussions with club officials over the past few months in arranging the visit, we have built a relationship which means more than just attendance at a football Tournament. Long may this relationship continue, and we look forward to building more relationships through future years.

Friday sees the Under 9s Festival where we will have continuous football all day from the 28 teams taking part. On Saturday it is the turn of the Under 10s, Under 11s and Under 12s to provide continuous football with 62 teams taking part. Along with the scheduled matches, we have laid on some skills challenges that all can take part in during your free time - this includes parents and spectators as well as the budding footballers in our midst. Prizes will be awarded to the best performers. Please also take advantage of the other facilities provided, and we have tried to be of help in inviting vendors of sportswear and equipment as well as trophy and printing providers to display their wares - things that might be useful when you run a football club! And don't forget to look out for those familiar football faces who will visit us throughout the day!

The theme of the Children's Festival is ENJOYMENT. We hope to see great sportsmanship as well as great skills on display . So my closing message is, Fair Play and Enjoy!
