Schools
from all over the Grangemouth area have just recently got
involved in the new National Tesco Bank Football challenge
programme. Bowhouse, Moray, Sacred Heart and Beancross Primary
Schools have just completed a 6 week coaching programme that has
been delivered by staff from the Falkirk Football Community
Foundation.
The
coaches delivered a structured football coaching programme to all
P2/P3 pupils during curricular time with the aim being that the
sessions will start to stimulate the boys and girls love and
interest for the National game.
The
children from Bowhouse Primary School also had the chance to meet
Falkirk captain Burton O’Brian, Carl Finnegan, Ryan Flynn and
Jamie Barclay when taking part in a coaching session at there
school.
The
Tesco Bank Football Challenge is a four year community programme
run in partnership with the Scottish FA with the aim of coaching
over 82,500 primary school children. The programme introduces
football to Primary 2 and Primary 3 children (6-8 years old)
across Scotland and gets them engaged in a healthy and active
lifestyle.
Senior Community Coach Richard Fox said ‘’The Tesco Bank Football
Challenge is integral to the development of the game in Scotland.
It is not only about learning basic football skills but also
about getting children involved in physical activity. I think
that is fantastic that so many children from the Grangemouth area
have been given the chance to take part in an initiative that is
beneficial for both the local community and Scottish football’’.
Well done to all the children who have taken part in the
Programme.
