Falkirk Girls Academy coaches Ian Fletcher and Arlene
Livingstone receive the SFA Quality Standard Mark award at a Falkirk
FC home match.
Falkirk
Girls
Academy
was established in 2007. The Academy started with one U-13 team. In
Season 2008/2009 this will grow to U-9, U-11, 3 teams at U-13 and an
U-15 team.
The girls will all train 2 nights per
week (u-15 and u-17 3 nights) and are all involved in Sports Science
Programme delivered by the University of Stirling, for season
2008/2009. The aim of this partnership is to help develop every
girl in the Academy programme to her full potential.
The fitness testing will highlight
aspects of each player that should be developed this season and
throughout the players involvement with the Academy, hopefully onto
Falkirk Academy Ladies (in 2 years time). The girls will travel
to the University of Stirling for their fitness testing and monthly
the Sports scientists will come to the girls training sessions giving
the coaches ideas on how they can develop each player, in terms of
their endurance, speed, quickness, agility etc...
The U-9's will not be involved in the
Fitness testing, however they will also incorporate SAQ into their 2
football sessions per week.
The teams all train on a Monday and a
Thursday and play there games on a Saturday morning at Little Kerse in
Grangemouth. The U-9 will play in the FVFDA, fun fours with games
also played on a Saturday morning at Little Kerse.
